China, Russia mark 55 years of diplomacy

A reception was held Saturday in Beijing to mark the 55th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Russia.

The Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries sponsored the event and CPAFFC Vice President Wang Yunze said the Sino-Russian relations have undergone a stable and healthy development since diplomatic ties were established more than a half century ago.

Russian Ambassador to China Igor Rogachev said at the reception that the visit by Russian President Validmar Putin next Thursday will further enhance the bilateral relations.

Currently, China and Russia are cooperating in politics, trade, science and culture and are strengthening coordination and cooperation international and regional affairs to promote world peace and development, reported Xinhua News Agency 

Wang said the Sino-Russian Friendship Association, formed on Oct. 5,1949, has played an important role in promoting friendship, trust and mutual understanding between the two nations.
