World No 1 women's tennis player goes to Athens
The world number one women's singles tennis player, Justine Henin-Hardenne, has announced that she will be representing Belgium in the women's tennis tournament during the Olympic Games in Athens this summer, local radio RVI reported on Thursday. After an outstanding start to the season, winning the Sydney, Indian Wells and Australian Open, Justine Henin had to withdraw from professional engagements in April, after retiring from the tournament in Charleston from exhaustion, due to a viral infection. Her return in May proved to be too soon, as she was knocked out in the 2nd round of the Roland Garros by Tathiana Garbin, ranked 59th by the International Tennis Association. It was clear that the tennis diva had not recovered enough to regain her athletic excellence. Henin now believes that her recovery is complete, and that she is ready to take on the challenge of the Olympic Games, according to RVI. She has shown a dramatic improvement, and over the last few weeks. Henin has managed to build up her training routine to the standard she previously trained at. According to her own website, Justine is no longer hindered by the recuperation processes. |
