A woman whose claims of an affair with soccer star David Beckham made her a minor celebrity has landed a job on Dutch television, broadcaster SBS6 said Friday.

The woman who caused a torrent of tabloid gossip by saying she had an affair with England soccer captain David Beckham said May 7, 2004 she was glad his marriage to his pop star wife Victoria Beckham survived. Loos, shown in London on April 20, said she still hopes the world's highest paid soccer player will publicly admit they had an affair. [Reuters]

Company spokesperson Eric Dekker said Rebecca Loos will appear on the entertainment news program Shownieuws for two weeks, beginning with an interview on Monday.

In interviews published in Britain last month, Loos claimed to have had a short affair Beckham while she worked as his personal assistant in Spain following his move from Manchester United.

Beckham, a star player for Spain's Real Madrid and married to former Spice Girl Victoria Beckham, has called Loos's story ``ludicrous."

Loos, whose father is part Dutch, speaks Dutch fluently.

Dekker said that both Loos and the station viewed the two-week assignment as a trial that could lead to a career in television.

He said that reports in the British press that Loos commanded appearance fees of more than $1 million US were untrue.

"She'll earn about the same as other presenters on the show," he said.

In an interview with Dutch daily De Telegraaf published Friday, Loos said the job offered "a chance for me to do something else and to live in another country for a while, where people are more liberal."

"I think that the Dutch can accept what happened to me better than English or Spanish people."
