Tunisia and China will further strengthen media cooperation under an agreement signed in Tunis Thursday between the Agence Tunis-Afrique Presse and China's State news agency Xinhua.

Under the accord, which was reached while Vice President of Xinhua News Agency Ma Shengrong was in Tunis for a visit, the two sides are expected to enhance the exchanges in the areas of news stories, telecommunication technology, information and data.

They also agreed to help deepen the mutual understanding of the two peoples as well as the friendly relations between Tunisia and China.

The Agence Tunis-Afrique Presse, the state news agency of Tunisia, began its cooperation with Xinhua in 1970s.
