Harbin

Harbin is not only the political, economical cultural, scientific, technological and transport center of Heilongjiang Province, but also one of the historical and cultural cities in China. Harbin is a tourist resort and a summer resort, also known as "Bingcheng," which is cool in the summer and very cold in the winter.

Harbin lies at the southwest of Heilongjiang province on the banks of Songhuajiang River. The name Harbin comes from "Alejin," a Manchu word for "honor" and "fame."

The city covers 53,067 square kilometers and has 9.63 million people.

Different nationalities, such as the Han, Hui, Manchu, Korean, Dawoer, Elungchu, Hezhe, Keerkezi, Elunchun and Mongolians can be found in Harbin.
