China exports more grain to DPRK
( 2003-11-25 00:38) (Xinhua)

The Dandong Customs Office Monday reported a sharp increase in grain exports to the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) in the first 10 months of this year.

Between January and October, 66,255 tons of grains were exported to the DPRK via Dandong on the border between the two countries, an increase of 52.29 percent from the same period last year.

Grains that are easily stored, such as wheat, rice and corn, had a big rise among the exports. Corn export to the DPRK jumped by 205.2 percent year on year to 13,673 tons in the 10 months, accounting for 51.45 percent of the total grain exports.

Wheat and flour exports grew 49.54 percent to 31,927 tons and rice export rose 40.64 percent to 17,409 tons.
