Coal mine gas poisoning kills six in NW China
( 2003-11-01 10:12) (China Daily)

A coal mine gas poisoning in Jingyuan County of Baiyin City, northwest China's Gansu Province, has claimed six lives, local officials said Friday.

The accident occurred around 900 a.m. on October 24 when six workers were working underground. They were all killed, but the mine leader, who is surnamed Zhang, did not report the accident immediately to the city's bureau of coal mine safety supervision.

The bureau rushed to the site of the accident immediately after they received a call about the accident on Wednesday, said Yu Ping, the head of Jingyuan County.

Investigation of the accident is under way.
