Coal mine accident kills four in central China province
( 2003-10-19 10:35) (Xinhua)

Four miners were killed in a coal mine cave-in in Daye City of central China's Hubei Province Friday.

The accident occurred about 11:00 a.m. Friday in Tongzi Mine, a state-owned mine in the city. A part of the wood support in the mine collapsed, causing cave-in of the tunnel wall. Twenty miners were working in the mine at that time.

Right after the accident, the local government sent rescue workers to the site. About one hour later, four people were found dead while the others were rescued. The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
