The death toll from a construction site accident in south China's Guangdong Province rose to 16 on Thursday when the last of the missing workers were discovered.

Part of a supermarket under construction in Jiangmen city collapsed at about 10 a.m Tuesday, trapping 20 people. The local government sent a team of 1,000 rescuers to the site. By 8 a.m. Wednesday, 10 had been confirmed dead.

The remaining four workers are being treated for their injuries in hospital.

After the accident, the local government ordered a one-day suspension of work on all construction projects in the city for safety checks.

The Guangdong Provincial Government has dispatched an investigation team to the site to determine the cause of the accident.
