Ma never thinks of defeat
( 2003-09-24 16:35) (Xinhua)

China women's soccer team head coach Ma Liangxing, who has always played down the Steel Roses' chance to win the World Cup, said on Tuesday that the only word he has never thought of is "defeat".

"Defeat? It never crosses my mind. I only want to win." Ma said after a afternoon training outside the Home Depot Center where they will meet Australia in a Women's World Cup Group D match.

Ma said Australia almost made no improvement after losing twice to China in the friendlies leading to the World Cup in August.

"I watched Australia's defeat to Russia last Sunday and found they had changed little," Ma said.

When told by Chinese journalists that Australia assistant coach Kevin McCormack said that they still have a lot to show, Ma said: "Any changes before a big match will be very risky. And I don't think they have enough to change."
