A man has sued his wife for divorce on the grounds that she routinely abused him and drove him out of their home after he was diagnosed with a blood clot in the brain, reports Beijing Youth Daily.

Wang, from Hebei Province, married Li in 1993 at the age of 42, and enjoyed a happy life with her in the Fangshan District.

But after Wang's condition was diagnosed and he was forced to stop working in July 2000, the couple's relationship began to deteriorate.

Wang was frequently beaten and abused by his wife, who kicked him out of their home on several occasions.

After the most recent incident, Wang went to hospital for treatment of his injuries, then reported Li's behaviour to police. He sued his wife following his recovery.
