The annual Urumqi Foreign Economic and Trade Fair will be convened in September as scheduled, a spokesman with the government of northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region announced Tuesday.

To date, 30 delegations have applied to attend the fair and 1,000 business booths have been booked, accounting for 90 percent of the total, said Li Jianxin, an official in charge of organizing the fair.

Urumqi Foreign Economic and Trade Fair is the largest comprehensive international exposition fair in northwest China. The first such fair took place in 1992. The fair has served as a bridge or window between the Chinese market, Russia and Central Asia.
