Hu Stresses Implementing 'Three Represent's' Thought
( 2002-03-02 13:57) (All members of the Communist Pa)

Leading party members and government officials at various levels must implement the "Three Represent's" thought and push forward the development of the economy and culture, said a senior official of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Friday in Beijing.

Leaders at various levels must study the theory and have a correct grasp of the development of China and the world, said Hu Jintao, a member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Central Committee Political Bureau.

Hu, also president of the Party School of the CPC Central Committee, made the remarks at the opening ceremony of the school's spring semester.

He said that in the country's new situation, a fundamental requirement for Party members is to study and practise the "three represent's" thought of Jiang Zemin, general secretary of the CPC Central Committee.

The thought calls for the CPC to represent the development trend in China's advanced social productive forces, the orientation of China's advanced culture, and the fundamental interests of the majority of the people in China.

Hu Jintao pointed out that the "Three Represent's" thought reflects new requirements for Party members brought about by the changes in China and the world.

The "Three Represent's" thought answers the fundamental question of Party building in the new situation, and is the latest achievement in the development of Marxist theories, said Hu.

Hu stressed that Party members must make a deeper study of President Jiang Zemin's July 1 speech marking the 80th anniversary of the CPC, and lay a solid ideological foundation for the convening of the 16th National Congress of the CPC.

He urged leaders to have a close relationship with the people, make them their top concern, and give all their energy to working for the people and the country.

He also asked party organizations to establish efficient methods for supervising their leaders.
