Supermodel Niki Taylor is in critical condition in an Atlanta hospital after suffering severe internal injuries in a weekend car crash, her agent said on Tuesday.

Taylor, 26, was a passenger in a car that crashed in Atlanta early on Sunday, said Lou Taylor of TriStar Management agency.

In a brief statement, the agent said the driver, who was not identified, lost control of the car and struck a pole. No other vehicles were involved.

Taylor, from Florida, is one of the world's top models, with a career that took off when she was just 13.

The single mother of 5-year-old twin boys is currently a model for Cover Girl cosmetics.

Taylor's sister, Kristen, died of asthma in 1995 at 17. Kristen Taylor was also a promising model.
