Tea is a breath of life to people who live in Chaozhou in Guangdong province. And the handmade red clay tea pot, as famous as Yixing earthenware teapot, is a pride of the place.

Even the most sophisticated machine cannot make high quality Chaozhou red clay teapot. Fine and delicate, the teapot is called a "reserved lady".

The teapot is made by hand through the traditional pottery making techniques.

Although the craft is hundreds of years old, it lost its luster due to the large loss of craftsmen who turned to businessmen in the 1980s and 1990s. Only when the craft of handmade red clay teapot was listed as a provincial intangible cultural heritage around 2000, many craftsmen returned and started creating the teapot again.
