Cultural industry enriches rural artists in Qinghai

A special cultural industry is prospering in Huangzhong county in Qinghai province. Artists who are also farmers paint and sculpt and make carpets, silver and bronze ware. The local government has invested 400 million yuan ($67 million) to promote the infrastructure construction and industry cultivation to its cultural tourism.

At present, the county has 70 registered cultural enterprises, about 500 self-employment ventures and more 500 sales outlets in Qinghai and other provinces. More than 24,000 farmers who are also artists have benefited from the developing cultural industry.

In 2015, the output value of the Huangzhong’s cultural industry amounted to 960 million yuan ($160 million).
