Nanning considers allowing bus drivers to remove passengers

By Su Qiulan in Nanning and Jin Zhu in Beijing | China Daily | Updated: 2013-09-30 08:05

Bus drivers in Nanning may be given the authority to boot off passengers who refuse to give up seats for the elderly or infirm.

The measure is in a draft regulation that aims to improve public transportation in the capital of the Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region.

Although surrendering a bus seat is considered a traditional virtue, the number of people who now refuse and the arguments that ensue have become hot topics in the past few years.
