Cultural Exchange Activity of Fujian puppetry held in Australia

A cultural exchange activity of Fujian puppetry was held by Chinese National Academy of Arts in Melbourne and Sydney, Australia from October 25 to November 4, 2015. Thirteen puppetry bearers from three Fujian puppetry troupes presented performances to audiences at five schools and universities in Australia.

The puppetry bearers also performed for participants from 9 South Pacific countries at the opening session of the Workshop on Ratification and Implementation of the 2003 Convention in the Pacific which was synchronously organized by the International Training Centre for Intangible Cultural Heritage in the Asia-Pacific Region under the auspices of UNESCO (CRIHAP). An ICH expert from Fujian province introduced the Strategy for the Training of Coming Generations of Fujian Puppetry Practitioners which was inscribed on UNESCO's Register of Best Safeguarding Practices.
