The concept behind the JW Marriott's new flagship restaurant is quality French fare in a semi-formal setting. They've hit the mark with a stylish dining area designed to draw you to their open kitchen.

Comfortable seating and mellow tunes allow you to sit back and enjoy culinary delights served by a well-trained waitstaff. Unshockingly, wine here is all about Pinot and includes a decent selection by the bottle (RMB275 to RMB1250) and by the glass (RMB75 to RMB128).

The Redbank Pinot Gris (RMB108) is a must-try. The menu features the French chef’s grandmother’s recipes, and the set “plat du jour” lunch (RMB108 for 2 courses and RMB128 for 3) of onion soup followed by veal stew tasted wonderful. A follow up dish of pate and wholegrain mustard (RMB118) married well and the chicken with morel sauce (RMB118) delighted the pallette.

Tart tatin (RMB53) and carrot creme brulee (RMB53) served as final highlights to a delicious meal.
