Shanghai's tourism ambassadors join hundreds locals climbing the Sheshan Hill in the city's Songjiang District yesterday to mark New Year's Day. And in Pudong New Area, more than 500 people climbed the Oriental Pearl TV Tower and many more joined the New Year's Day Run, a tradition begun 12 years ago. With China getting in the mood for the Summer Olympics in Beijing in August, many cities welcomed 2008 with mountain climbing, running and other sporting activities.
