Dessert made by the Intercontinental Beijing Financial Street with a Christmas theme wins first prize in the dessert category.

InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) Beijing cluster hotels have pitched in to raise money for children's education by organizing the 3rd annual 'Cuisine for a Cause' culinary competition. Over 30 chefs and bartenders took part in the event at the Holiday Inn Temple of Heaven.

There were many categories for competition including:

The Black Box, where a team of chefs received a mystery ingredient and only have 45 minutes to create one dish that will impress the judges;This year’s Asian dish theme is Hainan Chicken Rice. The winning team with the best dish has the honor of setting the standard for the other hotels;

A Green Food theme, where chefs presented sustainable, low carbohydrate and low chemical impact dishes in a bid to help preserve the environment;

Sweet-tooth lovers enjoyed the dessert theme;

And caffeine addicts congregated for the Coffee break theme;

Finally, Cocktail with Flair challenged bartenders to create fancy drinks using vodka as the main ingredient.

In the end, the Intercontinental Beijing Financial Street was the big winner of the evening, awarded five of the top prizes in the above 6 categories.

Over the past year, IHG Beijing charity drives have successfully raised 250,000 yuan through various fundraising events and programs.
