More than stereotypical

German food is not just about sausages and sauerkraut. At Papa's Schnitzelhaus, you'll find much more than stereotypical Teutonic fare - though there is still plenty of schnitzel on offer.

Our breaded pork fillet (RMB 89), and stuffed chicken fillet with gorgonzola and spinach (RMB 98), were both satisfactory and filling. Every dish comes with a choice of side dish and dressing; we opted for twister fries, spaetzle, and mushroom and herb dressing. Unfortunately, the spaetzle was overwhelmed by too much parsley, while the mushroom dressing was more sliced button mushrooms than sauce. For dessert, the traditional apple pie with vanilla ice cream (RMB 42) was sweet, too sweet for our palates. Cuisine quibbles aside, the peaceful ambiance at Papa¡¯s (located in an old villa) makes a visit worthwhile, especially if you enjoy a long chat over a pint of German lager.
