KUALA LUMPUR - With a mere 9.1 percent of its population adhering to Christian-based faith, Malaysia may not seem to be the most likely place to be getting into the holiday spirit.

But although the tropical country does not snow, it does feel a lot like Christmas, especially in its shopping malls, the favorite get-away for locals in this holiday.

Sales representatives clad in Santa apparel were seen greeting people in shopping malls and hotels.

One mall located outside of Kuala Lumpur, One Utama had a large ice rink made of white marble in the middle concourse.

There was a two-story structure encircling the center court, making visitors feel like they were in a small town in Europe where homes resembled little quaint cottages.

The trees were decorated with big gift boxes in hues of red.

There were clusters of poinsettia all around, heightening the mood with vibrant colors of green and red.

Another mall, Pavillion, in Kuala Lumpur has fairytale-themed decor.

It was a golden sight at the mall's concourse.

Golden flowers were wrapped around the structural beam near an arena which was constructed to look like a birdcage where one can walk about in.

And outside the Pavillion, trees studded with bells and decorations create the atmosphere of snowfall.

At night, snow does fall from the sky - and excited children are seen busy catching the bubble snow flakes - a gimmick by the Pavillion to lure shoppers in the holiday season.

In this Christmas, Christians in Malaysia give, share and commemorate the birth of Jesus Christ.

And for others, they are taking the opportunity to spend time with their loved ones.
