In the autumn of 1980, China Daily became the first domestic newspaper using electronic typesetting equipment to edit an English newspaper.

China Daily reporters used English to write and edit stories, which were warmly welcomed by foreign readers.

In 1981, China Daily used large photos on pages which were unique in the domestic media industry at that time.

China Daily was the first domestic newspaper that used one-quarter of a page to publish advertisements. On Oct 15, 1981, the first supplement was published with 16 pages. We combined supplement editing work with advertisements, meeting a demand from both readers and clients .

In 1985, China Daily used satellites to send pages to Hong Kong and New York.

In 1987, China Daily established the first English-language editing system in the country.

In 1990, China Daily moved to its new building with an poen editorial office.

In 1992, China Daily connected with "Data Time", one of the largest US databases, which made us the first domestic newspaper then to employ such advanced IT technology.
