BEIJING - The following is the biographical sketch of Fan Changlong:

Fan Changlong, born in May 1947, is a male ethnic Han from Dandong, Liaoning Province. He entered the workforce in October 1968 and joined the PLA in January 1969 and the CPC in September of the same year. He received a university education at the Central Party School.

He is currently a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, vice-chairman of the CPC Central Military Commission, vice-chairman of the Central Military Commission (CMC) of the People's Republic of China and holds the rank of a general.
