Three more hospitals for children will be built in Beijing city to solve the shortage of pediatric medical services in the capital, the Beijing News reported Friday.

Peking University First Hospital will open another medical unit in southern Beijing, Fang Laiying, director of Beijing Municipal Health Bureau told the paper.

The other two children's hospitals, Beijing Children's Hospital and Children's Hospital Affiliated with Capital Institute of Pediatrics, are also planning units in the eastern and western part of the city, Fang said.

The capital is bracing for a baby boom as about 200,000 babies will be born in 2012, the Year of the Dragon, which is believed by many people as the most auspicious year of the Chinese zodiac.
