Washington - Clean energy cooperation between China and the United States is creating more job opportunities for US companies, executives of General Electric Co. and the Westinghouse Electric Company told China Daily.

General Electric's Aero Energy and China Huadian Corp signed a five-year cooperation agreement on Tuesday for power projects in China, a deal that is expected to offer 2,100 jobs in the next five years both in China and the US, said Richard Goins, communication manager of the GE Aero.

Westinghouse and China's State Nuclear Power Technology Corp Ltd signed a two-year extension nuclear power cooperation agreement.

Aris Candris, chief executive officer and president of Westinghouse, told China Daily that the development of nuclear reactors in China has already created more than 5,000 jobs for the company and its supplying chain in the US.

"We are hoping to grow with our Chinese partners and there will be additional opportunities for jobs for both sides," Candris added.

The two agreements are among a number of signings between the two countries at the Second China-US Strategic Forum on Clean Energy Cooperation that opened on Tuesday in Washington.
