Beijing – A total of 50 television stations from China and Malaysia participated in the Lazikou Cup competition to document a historical site and tourist attraction at Diebu county in Gansu province.

Xinjiang Television Station's documentary "Memories of Diebu" was awarded the first prize at a ceremony held in the Great Hall of the People on June 18.

Some 150 journalists from different parts of China commemorated Diebu county’s historical legacy as one of the Long March stops and the famous battle Lazikou site by dressing up in Red Army uniforms during their work in the county from May 8 to 12. They explored through much of the large county despite harsh conditions of high altitude.

About 79 percent of the inhabitants in Diebu county, the Gannan Tibetan autonomous prefecture, are ethnic Tibetans. The local officials and tourism department supported this documentary competition with hopes to attract more tourists and develop local economy.
