Subway security checks to stay until end of year

Shanghai has been doing subway security checks since May 1 when the Expo opened and all subway stations in the city are equipped with X-ray scanners. There are 6,000 people working in security on the 11 metro lines.

Black and white half-body portrait paintings of forty-two children line the front of the French Pavilion at the Shanghai World Expo. The children show a variety of expressions -- smiling, crying, frowning... -- and are dressed in simple clothes.
