As of December 15, authorities across China had investigated 1,669 porn related cases and seized nearly a million copies of porn publications this year, the office said.

More than 60,000 websites displaying lewd content had been shut down by the end of November this year, and 2197 cases of disseminating pornography through the Internet and mobile phones had been uncovered, it added.

Law enforcers this year also have confiscated over 37 million pirated items, including DVDs and books, and handled over 10,000 related cases.

The office also praised the role informants had played.

A total of 534 people had been rewarded 544,000 yuan ($81,964) for the information provided, the office said.
