5 killed, over 20 injured in 2 bus collisions

HARBIN - At least five people were killed, including a baby girl, and more than twenty injured following two bus accidents in China Saturday.

A truck and a bus collided around 3:30 p.m. in Harbin, capital of northeast China's Heilongjiang province, killing three passengers on the bus, including a baby girl, and injuring more than ten other passengers, said the municipal traffic police.

The cab of the truck was mangled following the collision, while the bus, with over 20 passengers on board when the accident happened, lay on its side with broken glass and luggage scattered near the accident site.

The truck driver, who was not hurt, has been taken into custody, said police.

The injured, including the bus driver, have been sent to hospital for treatment.

Earlier Saturday, two people were killed and 12 injured when two buses collided on a highway in south China's Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, local police said.

The accident occurred at 9 a.m. on National Highway 324 in Long'an county, Nanning city, capital of Guangxi, according to the municipal police.

Police are investigating both cases.
