Beijing: Police reports of crimes involving pornography and gambling have dropped by 60 percent in July after Beijing introduced the real-name registration system to 80,000 employees in entertainment venues, Xinhuanet.com reported.

The system launched in May requires all public entertainment venues to keep records of employee’s working time and bans them from hiring people without real-name ID cards. 80,000 employees from about 1,000 KTV clubs and other public entertainment venues have got the cards.

Police believed that the system could help protect employees’ rights and interests.

Since July, 2,600 entertainment places in Beijing have been examined, among which over 200 places were closed for rectification and 2,000 suspects were detained.
