The head of a mafia-style gang was sentenced to 16 years and six months in prison plus a 4.5 million yuan ($662,000) fine for disturbing social and tourism market order in Dalian, Liaoning province, Xinhua News Agency reported on Wednesday.
Zheng Yong, who opened a craft store in 1999, threatened his competitor surnamed Ge and sent people to beat the tourist guides and clients that went to Ge's store. This finally forced Ge to shut his store.
Zheng was found selling fake deep-sea fish oil worth more than 450,000 yuan by the local bureau of industry and commerce in 2006 after he opened a supermarket in the city. He was also jailed for a half year for the crime of provocation in 2007 and arrested in 2008 for gang crimes.
