Thirteen people, rather than the previously reported 11, were unaccounted for after the landslide hit Xujiaping Village, Mianning County, Liangshan Yi Autonomous Prefecture, at around 5 am, the prefectural emergency response office spokesman told Xinhua over the phone.

They were from three households whose houses were flattened in the landslide, he said.

County rescuers equipped with heavy machinery were continuing to search the debris, while those dispatched by the prefecture government were still on their way since the road to the county was damaged, he said.
