MFELX-funded company sets up in Chengdu

CHENGDU: The US-based group, Multi-Fineline Electronix (MFELX), set up its third Chinese company in Chengdu, capital city of Sichuan Province, on Friday.

The new company, Chengdu Weishun Flexible Circuit Board Company Ltd., would mainly focus on the manufacturing of flexible and assembled circuit boards used in cell phones.

With renowned mobile phone manufactures like Sony-Ericsson, Apple and Motorola as its clients, WFXLX flexible and assembled circuit boards rank second globally.

Covering an area of 13 square km, the new company is located in the export processing center in the Western Hi-tech Zone of Chengdu. With a total investment amounting to $120 million and some 2,000 employers in electronic and testing, the new company is about to start operation next January.

It is the 23th company of Chengdu exporting processing center, 18 of which are foreign-funded ones, following Intel, Molex and OFC. Import and export value in the center reached $6.42 billion in 2009, increasing by 35.2% compared with that of the previous year.
