Zhou said the fifty cases in the UBPA were selected from 113 proposals coming from all over the world by an international commission headed by Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations, Madame Tibaijuka and the Secretary General of BIE Mr. Loscertales.

Zhou took a housing case from Spain as an example, describing its low-carbon, green and economical features incorporated into its construction and design.

"People will see this as a very good thing, and something that youngsters can afford," said Zhou.

He also introduced a garden case from southwest China's Chengdu City, saying the garden can purify water not with chemical methods, but with natural settings.

Talking about another innovation displayed at the Shanghai Expo, the Expo Online, Zhou said they are trying to use the high technology of the Internet to make the Expo everlasting.

According to Zhou, "almost all nations and international organizations, together with UBPA cases and corporate pavilions in Shanghai Expo, are participating the Expo Online."

On the Expo Online, "you can even make some comments and work out a kind of pavilion in your mind for certain countries," Zhou said.

World Expo 2010 is scheduled to be held in Shanghai from May 1 to October 31. A virtual tour of the exhibition can be experienced at www.expo.cn.
