The event started on Nov. 24. It included a day-long US-Shandong Industrial Energy Efficiency Workshop. US corporations such as GE, Emerson and Honeywell talked with local energy traders about advanced technology and new products.

At a book donation ceremony at Shandong University, Hunstman mentioned that US President Obama promised to send another one hundred thousand American students to study in China in the next four years for cross-cultural communication.

"Shandong is the hometown of Confucius and Confucianism influenced me a lot," said Huntsman. "That's why I promote Chinese in Utah."

This year is the 30th anniversary of US-China diplomatic relations. Hunstman and his delegation visited a photo exhibition looking back over the past 30 years, and said he expects to further the friendship between the US and China.
