CHANGCHUN: An airport in the capital of northeast China's Jilin Province was closed Tuesday evening after heavy snow hit the city.

Changchun Longjia International Airport was shut down at about 6:20 p.m. All the incoming and outbound flights after that were canceled.  Some 1,000 people stranded at the airport had been relocated in several hotels, according to the Jilin Civil Airports Group.

The airport is expected to resume operation Wednesday morning.
