Five dead as school bus hits truck in south China

NANNING: Five people, including three preschoolers, are dead after a school bus hit a truck early Monday in south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, rescuers said.

The accident happened in Tengxian county, in the city of Wuzhou, at around 8 a.m., said a spokesman with the city fire control bureau, which assisted in the rescue operation.

Among the dead were three children, who attended a local kindergarten, the bus driver and a woman who accompanied the children to school.

The cause of the accident is not immediately known.
