Shandong reports first A(H1N1) flu death case

A four-year-old boy died of A(H1N1) flu in Weihai, the first death from the virus in Shandong, the province's health department reported Monday.

The boy was confirmed as a severe case of A(H1N1) flu the day after he presented symptoms on November 13 and was admitted to the Weihai Municipal Hospital.

Despite of the efforts from the province's medical experts, the boy died of infective shock and cardiac failure on November 16.

Resources from Shandong Health Department said 240 cases of A(H1N1) flu were reported during November 9 to 15, bringing the province's total number to 1317 with 19 in a severe condition.
