Heavy snow causes school dining hall collapse, killing two

A boarding school in Xitantou village of Yongnian county, Handan, Hebei province collapsed under the pressure of heavy snow, due to a rare storm Wednesday, hebeinews.cn reported.

Two students died in the accident, a male and a female in their early teens, and six others were injured.

"I saw many ambulances and fire engines as I passed by the school. When I hurried into the schoolyard, part of the dining hall roof had already fallen down. Many students were stuck there and bleeding, while parents were anxiously looking for their own children," a man surnamed Li, a student's parent, said.

Teachers and firefighters sent the injured students to hospital immediately, according to reports.
