Chinese mainland reports two more deaths from A(H1N1) flu

BEIJING: The Chinese mainland reported two more deaths from A(H1N1) flu Monday in the central Henan and eastern Fujian provinces, authorities said.

An 18-year-old senior high school boy in Weishi County, Henan, died at the Huaihe Hospital under Henan University. He was hospitalized Saturday after week-long symptoms worsened and tested positive for the A(H1N1) flu Sunday, said the Henan Provincial Health Department.

He also had severe pneumonia, the department said.

Another death case, reported in the eastern Fujian Province, was a 55-year-old woman who was confirmed as an A(H1N1) flu patient on October 13. Tests showed negative between October 19 and October 22 after the treatment.

But she died Monday after developing complications involving high blood pressure, heart disease, diabetes mellitus, severe pneumonia, infective shock and acute respiratory distress syndrome, said the Fujian Provincial Health department.

The Ministry of Health said 30 people on the Chinese mainland had died of the A(H1N1) flu by Monday.
