2nd cross-Straits cultural industries fair nets big investment

Agreements of 39 projects with a total investment of 5.37 billion yuan ($800 million) were signed at the 2nd Cross-Straits Cultural Industries Fair on Thursday in Xiamen, Fujian province.

The projects mainly focus on making films and cartoons, tourism, artwork production, and construction of cultural industry parks. The investors are from Fujian, Shanghai, Zhejiang, Taiwan, Hong Kong, as well as Britain.

By the end of the five-day fair, the number of agreements is estimated to reach 73 with an investment of 7.7 billion yuan, a 32.75 percent increase over the previous year.

The fair provides 1,146 exhibition booths, among which 385 are for Taiwan. In addition to exhibitions and sales, performances from both sides of the Straits with local features will be staged. Forums will also be held for mayors and experts from the mainland and Taiwan to exchange ideas in cultural communication.
