According to Kan Ninghui, deputy director of the Shanghai Press and Publication Bureau, the city will display 8000 varieties of books and 621 kinds of magazines on a 792 square meter area.

"These books will introduce the city, the forthcoming World Expo and the achievements local publishers have made after their reform of the publishing system," said Kan.

The three-day fair, co-sponsored by the Fujian Provincial Press and Publication Bureau, the China Publishers Association and the Publication Business Association of Taipei, has been designated one of China's three key book fairs by the General Administration of Press and Publication. The other two are an international book fair and a national book fair.

A cooperation framework agreement will also be signed by publication associations from Shanghai and Taipei at the fair, the deputy director said.
