Fujian cargo throughput up

Cargo throughput of coastal ports in Fujian province increased by 15.6 percent year-on-year to 231 million tons during the first three quarters, the Fujian Maritime Safety Administration said on Tuesday.

Fuzhou Port throughput increased by 35.3 percent to 64.93 million tons, Xiamen Port by 11.4 percent to 80.93 million tons and Quanzhou Port by 7.1 percent to 57.36 million tons.

However, containers handled by coastal ports of Fujian decreased by 7.3 percent year-on-year to 5.17 million TEUs from January to September, among which Fuzhou Port handled 891,000 TEUs, up by 0.2 percent, Xiamen handled 3.39 million TEUs, down by 10.9 percent while Quanzhou Port handled 886,000 TEUs, up by 0.9 percent.
