HUA HIN, Thailand: Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi and his US counterpart Hillary Clinton had a telephone conversation here on Friday, with both sides pledging to ensure a successful visit by US President Barack Obama to China next month, the Chinese Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

Yang, who is here accompanying Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao for a series of meetings at the Thai resort, hailed the recent development of China-US relations, including Chinese President Hu Jintao's meeting with President Obama in New York in September and their phone talks several days ago, according to the statement.
