China sends volunteers to Niger

NANJING: China will send the first batch of 14 volunteers to Niger for Chinese language teaching, agro-technique application, medical and computer services.

The volunteers, aged between 20 and 30, came from major universities in east China's Jiangsu Province. They have received psychological guidance, language and skill training, a provincial government official said at the departure ceremony in the provincial capital Nanjing on Thursday.

The province had sent two batches of volunteers to Guyana since 2007.

Niger is a landlocked country in midwest Africa. Large parts of the country are located in the Sahara desert.
