No rain forecast in Tiananmen area for China's 60th anniversary

BEIJING: The skies over Beijing's Tiananmen Square area will be cloudy, clearing to sunny from 9 am to midday on October 1, the day of the 60th National Day celebrations, meteorological authorities announced Monday.

The meteorological department of the People's Liberation Army (PLA) said the weather would not affect the celebrations, including a military parade and mass pageant.

Li Fulin, director of the meteorology and hydrology center under the General Staff of the PLA, said the conclusion was drawn by meteorological experts from the PLA after several rounds of consultations.

The PLA meteorological department forecast weather for several rehearsals of the National Day celebration. The reports were 100 percent accurate.
