Seventeen workers in the reclamation depot fell sick on Sunday as they were loading a batch of plastic waste in Dongyang City, said an unnamed official with the Dongyang government.

He gave the surnames of the three dead as Lin, Wang and Li and said their ages ranged between 39 and 52. The official said the remaining 14 were still receiving medical treatment.

The local government is working to identify the toxic waste.
