Beijing post bans packages with liquids

China Post will not allow people to mail parcels containing liquids from any post offices in Beijing, starting today, according to - the Beijing Express Mail Service Corporation., the Beijing News reported Thursday.

Liquids, including shampoos, perfumes and even medical liquids are all forbidden. Powders, soaps, and toothpaste are also banned.

The move is designed to ensure the safety of the city during the upcoming celebrations for the 60th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, which will begin October 1.

The Beijing Post instituted similar restrictions during the Olympics last year.
